Frank Muller was and still is “The Master of Complications” designing and building them for clients like Patek and others. For some manufacturers it’s more practical to outsource short runs of super complicated watches. Frank Muller then set up his own watch company and added his only complications to ETA ebauches. There were three Franck Mullers in the auction -– the same number, incidentally, as Rolex. He got there because he had credentials as, arguably, the finest watchmaker of his generation. Other watch trends worth noting include an apparent comeback for the Franck Muller brand, whose watches achieved the greatest average sale price growth on the site, jumping 63 percent year-over.
Franck Muller manages to fit all three dozen of the Aeternitas Mega’s complications in a reasonable 42mm case.
